RadiKits- Duo Baumann Schultze

The duo moves fluidly between acoustic performance and electronic sound exploration.

In their acoustic work, Franziska Baumann and Stefan Schultze focus on expanding the expressive potential of their instruments: Baumann’s voice transcends conventional boundaries through archaic, experimental, and stylistically diverse vocal techniques. Schultze, through his idiosyncratic preparations, unlocks a broad spectrum of sonic possibilities on the piano, treating it both as a compositional tool and a performative instrument.

As RadiKits, the duo explores electronic dimensions using gesture-based interfaces, real-time programming, player piano control systems and AI tools to constantly renegotiate the relationship between human, machine, and sound. The result is dense, improvised sonic landscapes, highly performative and technically intricate, unfolding in the immediacy of the moment.

Both artists have received numerous awards, commissions, grants, and international fellowships. Their collaboration blends artistic precision with a spirit of inquiry and a radically open approach to sound.
